The 80's were greaties...

Our JSC fundraiser for the Royal Children's Hospital saw $99 collected to be donated to the RCH Good Friday Appeal. There was no limit to the array of characters who arrived: from mini Madonna's, Mr T and even Warrick Capper. The parachute tracksuits and walkman units certainly hit the mark.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club will be back in May for all our students to enjoy a top-up prior to class on a Tuesday. Parent helpers most welcome. Please check with Tabatha that your WWCC is on file. Students are rostered as kitchen helpers throughout the program. This is not designed to replace family breakfast time just an offering a top up for those who prefer to eat a little later in the morning.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher interviews will be held on 24th March. Please take a moment to check the roster and make sure you are free for your allocated time. If not please call to arrange an alternate time. This is not a pupil free day. Students will be expected to attend school. Check times here

Digital Equipment

DET has asked schools to ensure families who were loaned ICT devices during lock down have them permanently available. With this in mind I would ask any families who received school i-pads/macbooks to please pop in and fill out a quick acceptance agreement so that the device is permanently yours.

Bridging the Digital Divide – Loaned School Owned Computers Support Initiative

Parents to School related FAQs

  1. Why is my child getting a laptop/tablet? Is it for free?
The Department of Education and Training seeks to provide students with equal access to technology and help students thrive and prosper.
This means that students can permanently retain all computers loaned to them, either by the School or the Department of Education and Training, during remote and flexible learning periods at home over the 2020 school year. This is a once-off initiative.

  1. I don't want the laptop/tablet.
The parent/carer does not need to accept the computer and can formally register this with their school. If the parent/carer declines the computer, they must return the computer to the School as soon as possible.

  1. I have heard other parents are getting a laptop/tablet, can I get one too?
To be eligible to retain a computer, your child must have been loaned a computer during remote learning from home. If your child continued onsite learning you will not be eligible for a computer under this initiative.

  1. Does the computer come with insurance?
No, once computers are retained by the student they are no longer covered by school or Department insurance policies.
Schools and the Department will not provide a replacement computer for any that are lost, damaged, stolen or develop defects that the School technical support team cannot address.
Parents are advised to consider insurance requirements and seek possible options for that computer

At Simpson PS we C.A.R.E.

Each week we focus on behaviours that fit our C.A.R.E. values to give out our awards.
Congratulations to Xander, Sophie and Ely who all displayed aspiration in their classrooms this week. Working towards a goal and not giving up even when things got tough. Well done.

The Sound of Music

The "halls are alive with the sound of music" finally, with the return of Mrs McKenzie's music lessons offered each Friday to families who would like private tuition. If you are interested in your child having lessons please contact Tabatha in the office.
